Cosmetic breast surgery refers to elective procedures designed to enhance or modify the appearance of the breasts. These surgeries are usually undertaken for aesthetic reasons rather than medical necessity. Below are some common types of cosmetic breast surgeries.
1. Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty)
- Purpose : Increases breast size or restores volume lost due to weight loss, aging, or pregnancy. Enhancing symmetry, improving self-confidence, or meeting personal aesthetic goals.
- There are two techniques used which include Implants which are foreign body and the other is fat transfer. Fat transfer (using liposuction to remove fat from another part of the body).

2. Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
- Purpose : Lifts and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue. Women develop drooping breasts due to aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations.
- The surgery would Provide a more youthful and elevated breast contour.

3. Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
- Purpose : Reduces the size of the breasts by removing excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin.
- Often chosen by women experiencing discomfort or health issues such as back pain, neck pain, or skin irritation due to extra large breasts.

4. Fat Grafting to Breasts
- Purpose : Enhances breast volume using the patient's own fat (liposuctioned from areas such as the abdomen or thighs).
- Benefits : Provides a natural feel and avoids implants.
- Limitations : Not ideal for a significant size increase and requires sufficient donor fat.

5. Nipple and Areola Surgery
- Purpose : Alters the shape, size, or position of the nipple and/or areola.
- Examples:
- Areola reduction.
- Correction of inverted nipples.
- Reconstruction after mastectomy or injury.
